Through photography, film, and books, I explore the relationships between people, the natural world, and the cultural forces that shape how we see ourselves and one another.

My work moves across many landscapes: the faces of people living through displacement and humanitarian crisis in Humanity in the Modern World; the seasonal rhythms of a Vermont apple orchard in The Orchard; the lives of women in my documentary films. Each project begins with a question about what connects us — to each other, to place, to time.

My newest work, Animal Husbandry, turns that lens toward the land itself. Shot in infrared, these images explore the relationship between animals, the earth they inhabit, and the structures of containment that define both. The infrared process strips away the familiar and renders the natural world strange and luminous — a fitting way to look at something we think we already understand.

I work in film, Polaroid, analog, and digital — sometimes all within a single project. Whether the subject is a refugee camp in Lesbos or an apple tree in winter, I'm always looking for the same thing: the particular detail that opens into something larger.
